James F. Muench is an author, free-lance journalist and writing instructor. The Teutonic Cross is his first novel. His first book, the non-fiction Five Stars: Missouri’s Most Famous Generals, was published in 2006 by University of Missouri Press.
After working as a strategic communicator with the University of Missouri, Westminster College and the State of Missouri, Muench launched his free-lance writing business in 2001. His byline has appeared in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Columbia Daily Tribune, the Columbia Business Times, Inside Columbia, Columbia Home and Lifestyle, Jefferson City Magazine and Sports Illustrated for Kids.
Muench lives in Columbia, Mo., with his wife and two children and holds degrees in English and journalism. He teaches English at Columbia College and Lincoln University and news writing at the University of Missouri, and has also taught at Westminster and Stephens colleges.
